We Have a Winner
Luckily, I have numerous drink recipes involving cola, as
Cola Boy wins the second Breakfast at Tiffany's
Cocktail Quiz.
A few observations after 24 hours in San Francisco ...
1. Does Delta stereotype people traveling to the City by the Bay? Two programs on the inflight television: a VH1 "Behind the Music" featuring music group Queen and an old "Mary Tyler Moore." (Don't tell me Mary wasn't Murray's hag ... I won't believe you.)
2. So far, I've been trapped in the Financial District with client meetings. I have yet to see one rainbow flag, and I suppose I'll have to travel to The Castro for any family reunions. I did, however, spot a rainbow-colored Teddy Bear in a nearby gift shop.
3. In the same gift shop, no gay magazines. I don't just mean porn, I mean no Advocate, etc. Several issues of Hustler on the top shelf. On the bottom shelf, The Life and Times of Pope John Paul II. I mentioned to the shopkeeper that he might want to position those side by side as a sinner/saint marketing ploy. But since he didn't seem to speak anything besides Korean, I don't think he understood me.
4. I'll have about three whole hours to sight-see. I've drawn up a map for maximum efficiency. Golden Gate Bridge, the Wharf and Coit Tower are musts for me. Anything else will be lagniappe.
5. People here are amused by my accent. When they ask me where I'm from, I'm responding, "San Jose." They don't get my humor.
