Which Of These Is Not Like The Other?

Light blogging tonight because it's the series finale of "Will & Grace." Besides, isn't 2,000 words in three days enough? (See Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.)

But as we ponder a very different way to end a television series -- if you watched it, you'll understand -- let's ponder this: What do all but one of the senators who voted against a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border have in common ... besides their political party?

Akaka (D-HI)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Dodd (D-CT)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feingold (D-WI)
Inouye (D-HI)
Jeffords (I-VT)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Lieberman (D-CT)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Murray (D-WA)
Obama (D-IL)
Reed (D-RI)
Sarbanes (D-MD)

Only one is from a state that actually borders Mexico ...

The driving distance from major cities in those senators' states to Houston:

Honolulu: Call Delta
Albuquerque: 850 miles (although the border is less than 300 miles)
Seattle: 2,370 miles
Hartford, Conn.: 1,730 miles
Chicago: 1,090 miles
Milwaukee: 1,180 miles
Vermont: There are cities in Vermont?
Boston: 1,830 miles
New Jersey: 367 exits or about 1,600 miles
Rhode Island: It shouldn't even be a state.
Baltimore: 1,400 miles

Funny, huh?
