The First Day Of Spring?

According to the calendar, spring began shortly after noon Central time today. But according to Mother Nature, it was last week. Today, winter returned. A cold, wet rain here. A lot of snow in other places.

A storm system barreled across the Plains states on the last day of winter, dumping more than a foot of snow that closed hundreds of miles of major highways Monday and causing flooding in Texas.

Hundreds of schools were closed Monday in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and South Dakota, and at least two deaths were blamed on the storm. Six-foot snowdrifts were reported in northwestern South Dakota.

On that note, your humble blogger is off to Boston early tomorrow, where daytime highs are about 40 with lows in the 30s. Snow is possible there, as well. I will be stopping back through in Washington, D.C., where it appears travel weather out will be OK.

Blogging could be light during this time -- and definitely ill-tempered. See you in the funny papers. Now continue onward to the next post, which shows I'm already in an bad mood ...
