Trembling Before All-h

If they were pissed over some stupid cartoons, wait until those Muslim free-speech-hatin' fascists hear about this:

Sandi Dubowski, who won the Teddy gay and lesbian award in 2001 for his controversial doc "Trembling Before G-d," may cause an even bigger stir with "In the Name of Allah," which explores the struggles of homosexual Muslims.

Gay Indian Muslim helmer Parvez Sharma is directing the pic, which looks at gay, lesbian, and transgender Muslims across the Muslim and Western worlds.

"The world right now needs to understand Islam, and these are the most unlikely storytellers of Islam," Dubowski said, who is producing 'Allah.'

Kerosene producers stock just shot through the roof. I saw "Trembling Before G-d," and I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was anti-religion, and in fact, presented a spiritual side to gay Jews. There were some protests from people of the Jewish faith, but I don't recall the burning of KFC's or storming of foreign embassies. The same cannot be said over these cartoons, first published in Denmark that depict the Islamic prophet Mohammed.

These rioters are unhinged. Unfortunately, most of the mainstream American media is bowing to "Muslim sensitivities." CNN showed the cartoons with Mohammed's face pixilated. I am not kidding. The same media outlets who believe the government should fund such art as Jesus submerged in urine and no doubt would be unhinged themselves if George W. Bush suddenly banned the sell of Mein Kampf (which is readily available on Amazon.com).

Pornographer and free-speech advocate Larry Flynt is sounding off on the controversy, which means that not only does the KKK want to kill him, but the "Arab Street" will want to, as well:

Freedom of speech is only important if you're gonna offend someone; if you're not gonna offend someone, you don't need free speech. As the Supreme Court found in my lawsuit of Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, just because the government finds speech offensive, it doesn't mean people don't have a right to say it. I hate to see so many people waffle on this.

Europe, which begin this sorted affair showing some spine, is now reverting to this new, old ways -- and the Bush Administration, is no better, condemning the violence, but also urging "religious tolerance" and respect. Case in point: the European Union ass-kissers sat by and listened as some Muslim big-wig said (hat tip: Little Green Footballs):

Ihsanoglu asked for international legal measures against blasphemy. He said the EU should adopt necessary legislative measures by the European Parliament against Islamophobia.

"Unfortunately, people in the Muslim world feel that this is a new 9/11 against themselves. In Europe unfortunately Muslims have taken the place of Jews during World War II. There is a need for a UN legislation and clarification of existing conventions,"he said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 3,000 people died on 9/11. These were FREAKIN' CARTOONS. And the last I saw, Muslims in Europe weren't been shipping off on trains to be gassed. Boycott Danish products all you want, but to compare FREAKIN' CARTOONS with 9/11 or the Holocaust means you've lost your damn mind.

It doesn't do much good to became angry. Instead, I've decided to show my support of the great Danish people with the almighty dollar. Tonight, I purchased a pound of Havarti, and all the youngsters in the family will receive Legos throughout the course of 2006. For other ways to support free speech and capitalism, check out this list of Danish products. (New Eccos could be next.)
