Cocktail of the Week -- Gettin' Spooked Edition

Boo!

OK, so we're not that big on Halloween at BaT. We find ourselves conflicted. On the one hand, there's this fairly silly tribal ritual of dressing up in costumes and, in general, faking fun. (Mardi Gras ... now there's a real carnival worth grasping.) But, on the other hand, Halloween is another excuse to eat and drink.

And drink.

"Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,

For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

We could settle on just the eye, but why when we have the whole newt. A Cranberry Newt.

Ingredients

2 oz. orange juice
2 oz. cranberry juice
Shot of light rum*

Instructions

Pour the ingredients into a shaker and over ice. Shake vigourously. Serve with a twist of orange or lemon.

* You can swap the rum for vodka, although technically, that's a Cranberry Toad.

Now go back to worshipping Satan you Halloween lovers. Cheers!

Armilish, I'm glad everyone enjoyed the cocktail. I'm not a big fan of cranberry juice, because it's very sweet. But added with the citrus tang of orange juice, it's a very nice combination. Plus, I've been on a rum kick.

Kinky, you have to be drunk to put up with the news that often comes out of the South.
