The state of Alabama eliminated a piece of human trash from the Earth a couple of hours ago.

Condemned inmate John W. Peoples Jr. flashed a broad grin and gave a thumbs up to his brother before he was executed Thursday for killing a Pell City family of three and driving off in their vintage sports car in 1983.

Peoples, 48, of Talladega, died at 6:27 p.m. CST. He was convicted in December 1983 in the killing of Pell City businessman Paul G. Franklin and his wife, Judy Choron Franklin, both 34, and their 10-year-old son, Paul.

The Franklin boy and his mother were beaten to death with a rifle, but the father's body was too decomposed by the time he was found for investigators to determine the cause of death.

Prosecutors say Peoples killed the three because he wanted their 1968 red Corvette, and he was arrested after attempting to sell the car shortly after the killings.

In the good ol' days, the state would have turned the lights down at the prison to make sure Yellow Mama had enough juice. Nowadays, they use a needle -- far from the rifle butt this scum used.

I miss the day when charmers like that were thrown in the gas chamber or hanged. Hell,let's bring back the gulliontine,only with a buzzsaw blade!

it only took 22 years to fry this one? is that like a record setting pace for the death penalty? don't people take 45 years or something?

Ceiting, at one time, Texas had legislation pending that if there were three or more credible witnesses to the actual murder, you got one appeal and then straight to the chair. I'm not sure whatever happened to the proposal, but it did cause my favorite comedian, Houston native Ron White, to comment: "Other states are outlawing the death penalty; my state is putting in an express lane."
