She's Heeeeeere

The broken up portion of the eye is a couple of hours away. The wind is kicking now, and it's raining harder. Sustained winds at 30 mph, with gusts up to 43. I suspect we'll have some problems with downed trees, which means loss of electricity. (For you city slickers out there, the extended rain softens the ground and weakens tree roots -- making it easier for the wind gusts to uproot the suckers.)

I hope when I wake up, I have power and all my shingles. Meanwhile, say a nightly prayer for the folks down on the central Gulf Coast. They need it.

Yeah,stay safe and stuff. In other news,I'll bet that Jay was right about Anne Rice-darn,I had this really great image in my head of her in Miss Havisham mode,locked in the bedroom surrounded by her doll collection,ready to repel all rescuers with a shotgun...phooey!

I'm a bad person for that one,I just know it:)

Jake, I am praying that you and your home will stay safe, I am also praying that all the uprooted trees hit you work, and it closes for a week. I know that's what I wish for any time tornados are near in Iowa.

I'm pulling for ya Jake, though I know you're safer than most. Here's hoping this ends what seems to be too long of a recent cycle of hurricanes, etc.

All is well at Chez McCafferty. The power flickered much of the night, but I didn't lose it entirely. I went to the office today, albeit a little late as I waited for the highest of winds to die down.

No tornadoes that I heard about, which is always good news. At least you get 24-48 hours warning for a hurricane. Tornadoes are like bad relatives; they drop in unannounced and wreck the place.
