Quandry: Mow Lawn Or Wait For The Flood

Katrina's current track has her doing a giant curl after cutting across South Florida. Therefore, BaT headquarters should be safe from the worst part of the storm. However, the rain associated with this storm seems to be fierce.

Katrina could drop a foot or more of rain in spots as it lumbers across the state. Battering waves and storm surge flooding of 2 to 4 feet were also likely, and isolated tornadoes were possible, forecasters said. Rain fell steadily in much of Miami-Dade and Broward counties ahead of the storm's arrival, and tropical storm force winds of about 35 mph were being felt along the coast.

The storm is not particularly strong. Which normally is good. In this case, however, the slower she goes, the longer the rain hangs over. And all of us north of the storm are keeping an eye on her once she hits the Gulf. Anything can happen then.

Upside: Maybe I won't have to mow the lawn this weekend ... and instead swim in the back yard.

Downside: I don't have a pool.
