Although the system could bring winds of 75 mph or greater, the main problem for South Florida is flooding, and in some areas it could be severe. Katrina was forecast to bring up to 20 inches of rain, and the National Weather Service in Miami likely will post an urban flood watch on Wednesday afternoon.

"We're going to get swamped here, is what it amounts to," said meteorologist Jim Lushine.
