Homos Stay Mostly Dry

Morons who say New Orleans is the victim of God's wrath will have a hard time explain this map.

For those unfamiliar with the Crescent City, Faubourg Marigny is the "gay" neighborhood. It is bounded by Esplanade Avenue to the west, St. Claude to the north and Press Street to the east -- the left portion of this map. If this map is correct, the area is one of the few not flooded -- despite its proximity to the Mississippi River. (Lake Pontchartrain to the north of the city is actually the major culprit; Marigny is more to the southeast.)

So, while it may be raining men in Homo Haven, it's not flooded as of this afternoon. Water is reportedly draining back out, albeit very slowly. New Orleans may never be the same city again, but those of us who love it -- despite its faults -- have to take the minor victories when they appear.
